BETHANY, W.Va. (Sept. 28) - The volleyball match between Bethany and Thiel, scheduled for Thursday, September 28 at 7 p.m. has been postponed to a later date due to a response to the investigation of a gastrointestinal illness found to affect select students on the Thiel campus.
Thiel College Athletics official release:
"To ensure the well-being of its student community, Thiel College officials took precautionary steps and began working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Department of Agriculture on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 27, to identify a cause of the illness and take appropriate steps to address the situation.
With test results pending, Thiel College heeded the advice of the Pennsylvania Department of Health to avoid activities that involve close physical contact, in particular athletics competitions and intramurals."
A make-up date for the contest has not yet been announced. The Bison volleyball team will resume play on Saturday, September 30 when they head to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to compete in a tri-match versus Geneva and Thomas More at 11 a.m.
