Cross Country Competes in Muskingum Relays

Sept. 1 – NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Bethany men's and women's cross country teams participated in the 2016 Muskingum Relays to open the season. The men finished second behind Muskingum with a total time of 2:10:17.46 and 35 points. The women's team finished second to the Muskies with a time 1:52:19.53 and 44 points.

For the men, Jordan Castro (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) placed third with a time of 24:10.09 while Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) finished just behind him with a time of 24:43.93.

Other top ten finishers for the Bison included, Alexander Michalenko (Moon Township, Pa./OLSH), who finished seventh at 25:37 and Lucas Liriano (Frederick, Md./Walkersville), who placed ninth with a time of 26:12.59. 

Tony Kall of Muskingum crossed the finish first with a time of 23:21.55.

On the women's side, the Bison were led by freshman Kathrin Lenhert (Heidelberg, Germany), who finished second with a time of 17:52.23.

Also placing in the top 10 for the Bison was Ashley Worst (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge ) who finished ninth at 20:26.6. 

Julie Fobes finished in first place for Muskingum with a time of 17:14.

Bethany returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 10, when they host the Bison Invitational. The race is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
