Cross Country runs at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

Oct. 15 - OBERLIN, Ohio - The Bethany College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday morning. The women finished 25th out of 29 teams, while the men only had four runners complete the course and did not place in the final standings.

Freshman Kathrin Lehnert (Crailsheim, Germany/Lise-Meitner Gymnasium) continued her impressive rookie campaign. She finished the six-kilometer course in 18th place out of 255 participants with a time of 22 minutes, 34 seconds, running just over an average of six minutes per mile.

Junior Ashley Worst (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge) crossed the tape second for the Bison with a time of 26 minutes, 26 seconds to place 204th, while senior Shelva Burns (Weirton, W.Va./Weirton) finished third for Bethany at 30 minutes, nine seconds to slot 244th overall.

For the men, sophomore Jordan Castro (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) paced the team with a time of 26 minutes, 52 seconds to finish 114th overall out of 277 runners on the eight-kilometer course. SophomoreAlexander Michalenko (Moon Township, Pa./OLSH) was the second Bison runner to cross the finish line with a time of 29 minutes, one second to place 229th overall.

The Bethany cross country teams have the next week off to prepare for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Saturday, October 29 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
