Bison men finish fifth | Sallah-Mohammed named Most Outstanding Field Athlete

NEW WILIMINGTON, Pa. (April 26) – The Bethany College men's track & field team finished fifth overall at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships at Westminster College Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Sophomore Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete to lead the Bison men. He won the triple jump on Wednesday night with a mark of 13.35 meters (43 feet, 9.5 inches) and went on to win the long jump on Thursday with a new personal-record of 7.13 meters (23 feet, four inches). Sallah-Mohammed also made his presence known on the track with a third-place time in the 200-meter dash, crossing the tape at 22.37 seconds.

He currently ranks eighth overall on the NCAA Performance List in the triple jump and 14th in the long jump.

Senior Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) established a second place distance in the shot put with a mark of 14.32 meters (46 feet, 11 inches).

Junior Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) took second overall in the 800-meter run with a time of one minute, 54.92 seconds.

Freshman Michael Speedy (Irondale, Ohio/Edison), the PAC Indoor Champion in the long jump, finished third overall in the event with a mark of 6.67 meters (21 feet, 10 inches), while senior Lee Sanders (Waldorf, Md./ McDonough) placed sixth at 6.56 meters (21 feet, six inches).

Senior Ed Maxwell (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) qualified for the finals of the 110-meter hurdles with the fifth-fastest time (15.94 seconds) and finished seventh overall at 15.90 seconds. He also turned in a fourth-place time in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.81 seconds.

Senior Khallid Pierce (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) finished in a tie for fifth place in the high jump after he cleared 1.75 meters (five feet, eight inches).

Junior Malik Ellis (Richmond, Va./Life Christian Academy) was the fourth Bison to score points in the long jump, placing eighth with a mark of 6.46 meters (21 feet, two inches).

Senior Matt Dunn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished eighth overall in the discus with a mark of 36.11 meters (118 feet, five inches).

Senior Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) established an eighth place time in the 1,500-meter run after he crossed the finish line in four minutes, 16.14 seconds.

In the relays, the Bethany team of Ellis, Murray, Bierhals, and Maxwell finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of three minutes, 28.75 seconds. Ellis also joined sophomore Hunter Klein (Leonardstown, Md./Leonardstown), Dajour Hull (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and junior Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) to take fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 44.42 seconds.
