Sallah-Mohammed named USTFCCA All-Region in two events

NEW ORLEANS (May 21) - Bethany College sophomore track & field athlete Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) has been named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-Region honoree in both the triple and long jumps announced the organization Monday afternoon.

Sallah-Mohammed recently claimed the ECAC Outdoor Championships Most Outstanding Performer after winning both the triple and long jump titles. He ranks second overall in the triple jump heading into the NCAA Championships this Thursday with a school-record mark of 15.50 meters (50 feet, 10.25 inches). Sallah-Mohammed also is the sixth seed in the long jump at the national championships after he broke his own school-record with a mark of 7.42 meters (24 feet, 4.25 inches) at the ECAC Championships.

The full events schedule for the NCAA Division III National Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin will be posted tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22 on NCAA.com in the afternoon. The top-eight finishers in each individual event earn All-America status.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned all-region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during the cross country and indoor track & field season. Bethany is a member of the Great Lakes Region.
