Swimming and Diving opens season at Saint Vincent

Oct. 22 – LATROBE, Pa. – The Bethany College swimming and diving team opened its season with a meet at Saint Vincent Saturday afternoon. The Bison men were defeated 110-74, while the women were dealt a 122-99 loss by Saint Vincent.

The Green & White posted 13 victories on the day (two relays, two dives), with sophomore Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) and senior Cameron Deitch (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) for the men and sophomore Julianna Libengood (New Stanton, Pa./Hempfield) and junior Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) for the women each winning three events.

Stresky claimed the 1650 freestyle and the 50 freestyle, while Deitch touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM. Both Deitch and Stresky were on the 4x200 freestyle relay that earned a victory.

Libengood earned wins in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle, while Geer collected wins in the 200 backstroke and 200 IM. Each of them was also members of the 4x200 freestyle relay that took first place.

The Bison swimming and diving teams are back in the pool on Saturday, October 29th when they host Baldwin Wallace and Ursuline at 1 p.m.
