Bison swim teams split at Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio (Dec. 3) – The Bethany College women's swimming and diving team earned its first victory of the season with a 68-43 win at Hiram Saturday afternoon. The men's team was defeated 90-64 by Hiram.

Senior Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton) and sophomore Mackenzie Bosley (Buckhannon, W.Va./Upshur) each won two individual events and were members of a pair of winning relay teams to propel the women's team to the victory.

Pray earned the Bison nine points in both the 800-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly. She touched the wall at 10 minutes, 27.32 seconds in the 800 free and posted a time of one minute, 16.96 seconds in the 100 butterfly.

Bosley picked up wins in the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. The Buckhannon native finished with a time of three minutes, 14.44 seconds in the 200 free and established a time of one minute, 33.86 seconds in the 100 backstroke.

The team of Pray, Bosley, and juniors Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Maria Reichenecker (Heidelberg, Germany/Bildungszentrum Reutlingen) won the 4x200-meter medley and 4x200-meter freestyle relays to help Bethany secure its first win of the season.

Sophomore Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) led the men's team with a pair of victories in the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. He posted a time of two minutes, 3.53 seconds in the 200 free and touched the wall at one minute, 2.69 seconds in the 100 backstroke to add 18 points to the Bison's final tally.

Bethany returns home to take on Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
