Bethany topped by Chatham; Stresky sets record in 200 free

Nov. 11 - BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's swimming and diving team was handed a 105-51 loss by Chatham Friday evening inside the Knight Natatorium. 

The men's team swam unopposed and sophomore Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) established a new school-record in the 200-yard freestyle. He touched the wall in one minute, 47.49 seconds, besting his previous record of one minute, 48.69 seconds established by Cody Hussey last year.

Senior Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton) and sophomore Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) each recorded victories in the pool for the Bison women. 

Prey picked up a win in the 500-yard freestyle at five minutes, 50.01 seconds and swam unopposed in the 1000-yard freestyle at 12 minutes, 8.26 seconds to earn Bethany 18 points. 

Geer outlasted the competition in the 100-yard backstroke by hitting the wall at one minute, 7.93 seconds, less than a second ahead of Chatham's Jade Marzolf (1:08.40). 

The Bison swim teams each return to the pool on Saturday, December 3 when they host Hiram in a non-conference meet at 1 p.m.
