Game Notes: Bethany at Waynesburg (Week 3)

LAST MEETING: The Bethany College football team handed Waynesburg a 22-13 loss last season behind a two-touchdown game from junior running back Raekwon Wright. Wright rushed 22 times for 147 yards in the victory. The defensive end gave Waynesburg fits as they racked up four sacks on the night for a total of 24 yards, with six tackles-for-loss to add on another 27. Four Bison got their hands on the Yellow Jacket's quarterback, including senior Daniel Gibson.

TOP TARGET: Hunter Klein tallied eight receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown last weekend against the Wolverines. Klein leads the Bison this season in receiving yards and receptions, while averaging 14.4 yards per catch. The senior receiver is currently second in the PAC in receptions per game (7.0) and third with 100.5 yards per game.

TOP TACKLER: Anthony Fiasco has emerged as the Bison's top tackler in the first two games. The senior has totaled 20 tackles including 13 solo. He has one takeaway and one tackle for a loss of one yard. Fiasco currently ranks fifth in the PAC for tackles (20).

125 YEARS OF BETHANY FOOTBALL: Each week Bethany Game notes will consist of a look back in Bison football history. Bethany will play its 125th season of football in 2019 and the Bison will celebrate the rich tradition and history of the program throughout the year by honoring the great games, moments, teams, players, coaches and staff from the past on November 9. Kickoff is set for 1:25 pm.

A LOOK BACK IN TIME: On September 21, 2002, Jeremy Lacaria broke single game records for most passing attempts in a game (65) and most offensive attempts (88) against Wooster. Lacaria totaled 445 yards and earn PAC Player of the Week Honors for his performance against Fighting Scots. That same day, Bethany outgained Wooster 526-473 and the Bison's 110 offensive plays were just two off the NCAA record. In 2000, the Bison moved to 4-0 with their second shutout of the season, holding visiting Gallaudet to just 74 total offensive yards. The 24th-ranked Bethany extended its winning streak to seven games, its longest streak since winning seven straight over the 1981 and 1982 seasons.
