The Bethany College men's soccer team traveled to Mount Union for their season opener. The Bison went scoreless in a 3-0 loss to the Purple Raiders.

The Bison allowed 11 shots in the first half. Bethany's experienced defense was able to deflect most of them, however one slipped through into the net at the 19 minute mark.

The offense struggled to possess the ball past midfield. They took one wide shot in the first portion of the game.

The Bison were able to create an opportunity with less than 30 seconds on the clock in the first half. A pass over the top gave Bethany a one on one opportunity with the goalie, but an athletic save kept Mount Union in the lead 1-0 going into halftime.

The offense continued to falter in the second half, not being able to get a shot off before time ran out.

Mount Union scored twice more to make the final 3-0.
Bethany (0-1) will travel to Denison (0-0-1) tomorrow on Labor Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
