Men's Tennis drops match at Mount Vernon Nazarene, 7-2

BETHANY, W.Va. (March 6) - The Bethany College men's tennis team was defeated 7-2 by Mount Vernon Nazarnene (NAIA) in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bison claimed No. 1 doubles to open up the match. The team of senior Chris Ray (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) and junior Drake Berlin (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) battled to claim a 9-7 win at the top doubles position.
  • The Bison struggled in singles play, but the Berlin was the exception. The Ohio native notched a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles to help contribute two points to the Bethany team score.
  • Freshman Tyler Beck (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) recovered from a 6-3 loss in the first set of No. 5 singles to score a 7-6 win and force a third set. Beck would eventually be defeated 7-4 in the tiebreaker set.

UP NEXT

  • The Bison will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play tomorrow, Sunday, March 25 when they travel down to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to take on Thomas More.
  • The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
