Softball Sweeps Waynesburg on Senior Day

Bethany, W.Va - The Bethany College softball team took on the Waynesburg Yellowjackets in a PAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Bison swept the Yellowjackets. Prior to game two, Bethany honored their three seniors for their contributions to the program over their careers.

Game One Overview

Bethany defeated Waynesburg, 8-0 (6 Innings)

The Bison were in cruise control in game one. The green and white scored in the bottom of the first. Jen Oberthur reached on a fielding error, driving in Erica Amoroso. Moments later, Tyra Bell singled scoring Emily Folk. Gabby Capaldi singled driving in two to give the Bison a 5-0 lead. In the second inning, Jen Oberthur singled again, plating Emily Folk. Kayla Dinsmore doubled in the fourth inning, scoring Erica Amoroso. In the sixth inning, Oberthur doubled giving Bethany an 8-0 victory.

Game Two Overview
Bethany Rolled Past Waynesburg, 9-5

The Yellowjackets scored first in the ballgame. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bison knotted the game a 1-1. Lauren Maiche singled driving Erica Amoroso. Next, Paige Allen doubled, driving in two runs for the Bison. Bethany led 3-1 after one. The Yellowjackets regained the lead in the third inning. In the bottom of the third Jen Oberthur singled scoring Janaya Hazlip, knotting the game at 4-4. Waynesburg took the lead again in fourth inning. Battling back in the fifth inning, Bethany took the lead and kept it. Tyra Bell hit a two-run homerun giving the Bison the lead 6-5. Moments later, Kaitlyn Mills singled plating Jen Oberthur. A couple moments later, Fran Capaldi singled driving in Paige Allen. Bethany won 9-5 in game two.
