Swimming & Diving celebrates Senior Day versus Hiram

BETHANY, W.Va. (Jan. 17) - The Bethany College swimming & diving teams were defeated by Hiram on Senior Day at the Knight Natatorium Friday night. The Hiram men won 74-40, while the Bethany women were dealt a 93-69 loss.

Prior to the meet, seniors Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Mackenzie Bosley (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur) were honored for their contributions to the program.

Geer helped the Bison women score 18 points in the pool. She finished with a time of two minutes, 29 seconds-flat in the 200-yard IM and hit the final wall of the 100-yard backstroke at one minute, 8.21 seconds to win the event.

Junior Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) led the men's team with wins in the 50- and 1650-yard freestyles and was also a member of two relay teams that scored points. Stresky clocked in at 21.93 in the 50-yard free and touched the wall at 17 minutes, 35.20 seconds to win the 1650-yard free. 

Stresky also teamed up with Chandler Chafins, Anthony Helias and Mark Tichnor to claim points in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of one minute, 41.36 seconds. Chafins, Helias, Tichenor and Anthony Romano also opened the night with a time of one minute, 50.50 seconds to win the 200-yard medley freestyle relay.

The Bison are back in the pool next week when they travel to Maryland to face Frostburg State on Saturday, January 27 at 1 p.m.
