Swimming & Diving records victory at Frostburg Tri-Meet

FROSTBURG, Md. (Jan. 27) - The Bethany College women's swimming & diving team earned its first win of the season with a 33-22 victory over NCAA Division II Salem International as part of a tri-meet at Frostburg State Saturday afternoon.

The Bethany women's team fell to host-Frostburg State, while the men were dealt losses in both of its competitions at the event.

Senior Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) held off competitors from both Frostburg State and Salem International to win the 100-meter IM, touching the wall in one minute, 18.33 seconds. She also added points in the team's collum against Salem International in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of two minutes, 34.32 seconds to finished second overall. Senior Mackenzie Bosley (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur) also scored important points for the Bison in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 40.23 seconds.

The Bethany men were led by junior Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich./Oxford). Stresky won the 400-meter freestyle in four minutes, 36.02 seconds; six seconds ahead of the next competitor. He also edged out competitors from both schools in the 100-meter backstroke, posting a time of one minute, 2.50 seconds to place first overall.

The Bison will close out competition against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foes next Saturday, February 3 when they compete at Chatham. The PAC Championships will begin on February 15.
