Powell tabbed PAC Player of the Week

Oct. 17 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College senior setter Allie Powell (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Volleyball Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Powell helped the Bison post four 3-0 sweeps, including PAC wins over Saint Vincent and Chatham, to remain in third place in the league standings entering the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Indiana native tallied 154 assists last week (12.8 per set) and added 21 digs, four kills and five service aces to her final line. She ranks second in the PAC with 8.39 per set and leads the league in total assists with 856 this season.

Powell recorded 46 assists in a 3-0 non-conference win over Stockton Saturday and helped the team finish with a .333 hitting percentage in the victory. The 46 assists was her highest single-game total in a three-set match and tied for her second highest total this season.

She becomes the first Bison volleyball player to receive the league's weekly award this season.

Powell and the Bison are on an eight-match winning streak, the longest current streak in the PAC, heading into an important stretch on their calendar. Bethany heads to league-leading Geneva on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m., before it hosts second-place Thomas More on Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m.
