Dakota McKenzie garners PAC weekly honors

Oct. 17 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College senior outside hitter Dakota McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio/West Muskingum) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Volleyball Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

McKenzie helped the Bison win each of their matches last week. Bethany posted a pair of 3-1 wins over Geneva and Thomas More to vault the Bison into first place in the conference standings entering the final week of the regular season.

The Hopewell, Ohio native recorded 39 kills (4.9 per set), including a season-high 25 kills in the 3-1 win over then-league leading Thomas More on Saturday. McKenzie opened the week with 14 kills in Bethany's 3-1 win over Geneva on Wednesday. Overall, McKenzie ranks sixth in the PAC with 3.09 kills per set this season.

McKenzie becomes the second Bison volleyball player this season to earn the player of the week award. Senior Allie Powell (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) earned the honor last week.

McKenzie and the Bison are on a 10-match winning streak heading into the final week of the regular season. If Bethany wins its final three matches it will be in position to host the PAC Championships. The Bison will begin the week on Tuesday, October 25 when they head to Greenville, Pennsylvania on to take on Thiel at 7 p.m.
