Bison roll in sweep of Grove City, 3-0

Oct. 27 - GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Bethany College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) over Grove City in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Thursday evening.

The Bison improve to 22-11 overall, 15-2 in league play. Bethany can clinch home-court advantage in the PAC Tournament with a win over Westminster on Saturday at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, the Wolverines fall to 7-9 in the PAC, 10-19 overall this season.

Senior Dylana McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio/West Muskingum) led the Bison with 14 kills, while her twin-sister Dakota McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio/West Muskingum) paced her effort with 13 kills and two blocks.

Senior setter Allie Powell (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) guided the offense with 37 assists, while freshman Maggie Merren (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) and sophomore Reilly Parker (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) led the defensive efforts with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

The Bison finished the match with their second-highest hitting percentage in a single-match this season. Bethany hit .351 for the match, including an impressive .452 in the second set in the win. The Bison hit .398 in a win earlier this season versus Chatham.

Grove City's Laura Buchanan led the Wolverines with 10 kills in the loss.

Bethany wraps up the 2016 regular season on Saturday, October 29 when it hosts Westminster at 1p.m. Prior to the match, the Bison will honor its six senior student-athletes.
