Men's Lacrosse: Bison Tabbed Sixth in PAC Preseason Poll

Greenville, Pa. – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team was picked to finish sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday along with the leagues Players to Watch List.

Grove City secured the top spot in the coaches' poll followed by Saint Vincent and Chatham.

Westminster was picked fourth followed by Washington & Jefferson in fifth. Thiel and Franciscan round out the conference to finish seventh and eighth respectively.

Bethany returns a dynamic core that received All-PAC honors last season. Senior goalkeeper Andrew Smith returns to defend the Bison net this season. He was an All-PAC First Team selection last year, finishing the season with 256 saves and a 55.9 save percentage. He currently ranks third on Bethany's all-time career saves list with 521.

All-PAC Honorable mentions Josh Allegra, Tyler Britton, Christian Funari and Clay Yingling return for the Bison.

Sophomore Josh Allegra finished his freshmen season with 20 goals and 11 assists. He ranked third on the team for goals scored and third for assists.

Sophomore Tyler Britton finished the 2021 season with 21 goals and seven assists. He finished second on the team in goals scored.

Sophomore Christian Funari returns to anchor the Bison defense. He caused 23 turnovers and scooped up 69 groundballs.

Senior Clay Yingling rounds out the Bison players to watch list. He finished the season with 16 goals and nine assists. He caused 11 turnovers and scooped up 67 groundballs.

Bethany returns 15 this season with seven seniors. The Bison made their first PAC Tournament appearance since the rebirth of the conference finished the season 4-9 (2-4 PAC).

The Bison open the 2022 season on Saturday February 19, when they travel to William Peace at 12 pm.
