Men's Lacrosse: Smith Sets Single-Game Save Record in Loss to Titans

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team faced the Westminster College Titans in a PAC contest at Bison Stadium Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Westminster 20, Bethany 9            

Records: Bethany (5-8, 0-6); Westminster (10-3, 5-1)  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first period went back and forth. Westminster struck net first but the Bison knotted the game a minute later after Joshua Allegra scored from a Clay Yingling pass. Jacob Ranttila scored with 8:25 to go in the first to knot the game at 2-2.
  • Westminster scored the next two goals. Nick Helias scored the final goal of the period for the Bison while the Titans added one more to take a 5-3 lead after one.
  • In the second period, the Titans outscored the Bison, 6-2 taking a 9-5 lead heading into the half.
  • In the second half, the Titans extended their lead outscoring the Bison 9-4.

STATS OF THE GAME

  • Andrew Smith made 35 saves. His performance broke the single-game save record previously held by C.J. Studnicky (34).
  • Clay Yingling is three points away from 100 career points.
