Hildebrand Crowned Champ, Team Runner-Up
BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. - The Bethany Men's Golf team had the best finish of the spring season at the Geneva Invitational. They finished as runner-ups only two strokes behind the Golden Tornadoes who had home course advantage.
Payton Hildebrand was clutch, earning the crown. He bested over 40 golfers. The Bison finished the day with an impressive +4 while dodging raindrops. Hildebrand was unable to replicate his amazing albatross from last tournament, but played a much more consistent round. He had a birdie on hole 17. It would be Hildebrand's only sub-par hole on the day. However, Hildebrand posted 13 pars on the day.
Hildebrand's teammate Jude Smith had a similar day. Smith posted a birdie on hole seven and 11 pars throughout the other holes. He finished shooting a 78.
Sam Phillips was arguably wielding the hottest club coming into the day. He continued to swing well being Bethany's third top ten finish. Phillips had two birdies to help him finish in 6th place.
Nash Hays and Lincoln Pablo were the other two Bison apart of the starting five.
The Bison will travel to Thiel this Saturday for another round. Start time is at 12:30 p.m.
