GOLF: Smith Shoots Well in PAC Chips
MILL CREEK GOLF COURSE, Ohio. - The Bison competed at Mill Creek Golf Course in the Presidents Athletic Conference Championships. It was a four round event, where the Bison spread out 72 holes between two days.
Bethany College finished seventh among the field, finishing with a 1301 total.
Jude Smith had the best weekend for the Bison. After a tough round one, Smith rallied to finish tied for 15th. He shot an impressive +4 on the last three rounds, completing a total of +22 on the weekend.
Smith was very consistent through both days, excelling on the longer courses. He was fourth among the entire field in pars, sinking 45 of them. Smith was top five in another category, tying for fifth among all golfers in total score of par five holes; shooting three under in all four rounds.
Payton Hildebrand tied for 22nd. He started off well shooting +5 in the first round. While he didn't have a bad four rounds of golf, his lack of birdies came to bloat his score in the long run. Still, at +35 Hildebrand landed in the top half of the conference.
Sam Phillips and Nash Hays were the two other Bison to complete the full four rounds. Phillips finished +47 and Hays finished +61.
Lincoln Pablo and Cooper Poe split rounds, however neither were scored.
The men will not graduate anybody next year. They will have a full team that will look to improve in the off season.
