Women's Basketball Handed Road Loss to Wolverines
Grove City, Pa – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled north the Grove City, Pa for a PAC contest against the Grove City College Wolverines. The Bison were handed a road loss to the Wolverines, 81-42. Sophomore Courtney Walker led the Bison with 18 points.
GAME OVERVIEW
Head Coach Brian Sansom missed the game due to the birth of his son. The Green and White began the game going neck and neck with the Wolverines. An Abbey Dobbins jumper put the Bison ahead 6-3 in the first stanza. The two teams continued to battle, with the Wolverines taking an eight point lead (16-8) heading into the first break.
Grove City continued to tack onto the lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter. However, the Bison were able to cut the deficit to five with 5:34 to go in the half from a shot behind the arc off the hands of Courtney Walker. The Bison were unable to get any closer and saw the deficit grow to as many as 17 points in the second quarter.
The Wolverines opened the second half up with an 18-5 run in the first six minutes of the quarter. The Bison shots were falling but the Green and White fell short on the defensive side. The Wolverines shot 32 of 69 from the field, while the Bison were held to just 17 made field goals on 57 attempts. The Bison were manhandled on the boards, giving up 43 rebounds.
