
Women's Basketball Opens Season With a 67-49 Win Over Franciscan
Steubenville, Ohio – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Steubenville, Ohio to open up Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) play against the Franciscan University Barons Saturday afternoon. Nikki Bradbury opened up her career with 23 points, shooting 7-of-17 from behind the arc. Junior Kelsie Meintel added 17 points and six boards. The Green and White defeated the Barons, 67-49.
GAME OVERVIEW
Bethany struck first with a shot behind the arc from freshman Nikki Bradbury. Shortly after, the Barons jumped out to an early lead, 9-7. The Bison trailed 16-9 at the end of the first stanza. The Bison and Barons traded baskets for most of the second quarter. The Green and White went on a 7-0 run to pull within two-points with just over a minute remaining in the first half. Freshman Bella Skobel knocked in a pair of free-throws to bring the Bison within three before the half. Franciscan led 31-28 at the half.
The Bison opened up the second half strong, going on an 11-2 run. The Green and White shot 50% from behind the arc in the second half. Bradbury connected on seven from behind of the arc. The Barons battled but a 14-0 run opening up the fourth quarter allowed the Bison to maintain the lead. Bethany closed out the fourth winning, 67-49.
