Women's Basketball Handed Road Loss by Golden Tornadoes

Beaver Falls, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball ventured to Beaver Falls, Pa for a Presidents Athletics Conference (PAC) matchup against Geneva College, Wednesday evening.  The Bison were dealt an 89-74 loss to the Golden Tornadoes. Freshman Bella Skobel had a career high 25 points, along with six rebounds and four steals.

GAME OVERVIEW

The Golden Tornadoes struck first in the game, but back-to-back buckets from freshmen Makenzee Mason and Bella Skobel gave the Bison an early lead. It was a neck and neck battle early on but Bethany built a seven point lead, scoring the final four points of the first stanza.  

The Bison continued to expand their lead, notching the first five buckets of the second quarter. After taking the biggest lead of the game, 28-16, the Golden Tornadoes cut the deficit to 30-26, and continued to chip away at the Bison lead. Bethany closed out the first half with a 7-2 run, leading 41-33.

The second half saw a momentum shift and it wasn't in Bethany's favor. Geneva accounted for the first 12 points of the third quarter, taking the lead from Bethany. The Bison battled to regain the lead, 52-49. Unfortunately for the Bison, the Golden Tornadoes struck back, taking their biggest lead of the game heading into the final stanza, 64-56.

In the fourth and final quarter, the Bison took one final effort to chip away at the Golden Tornadoes' lead. Bethany would pull within three, 65-62, after two minutes of play. Despite all efforts from the Bison, it game was in the Golden Tornadoes hands from there on out.
