Women's Basketball Battles with Wolverines

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College women's basketball hosted the Grove City Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest inside Hummel Field House Saturday evening. The Bison battle comes up short in, 72-66, loss to Wolverines.

GAME OVERVIEW

Bethany was the first to score in the game from a three-pointer from Bella Skobel. The Bison and Wolverines battled in the first four minutes of play. Makenzee Mason knotted the game at 7-7 with a layup. Grove City went on a run to close the opening stanza, 21-16.

In the second, the Bison battled to cut the Wolverine deficit. A Nikki Bradbury three cut the lead to 29-28, with 4:40 to go. A minute and half later, Bradbury hit another three to give the Bison a 31-32 lead. Taylor Stinnett had a made layup to build the lead up to 33-32. Grove City battled back to regain the lead, but as time was expiring, Nikki Bradbury hit her third three of the quarter and deadlocked the game at 36-36 as teams headed into to the locker-room.  

In the third, the Bison scored the first four points to open up the second half. However, the Wolverines had an answer and scored the final 14 points in the third quarter. The Bison fell behind for good after losing the lead with five minutes to go in the third stanza.

The Bison played catch up in the fourth quarter and battled back within two, 66-64 with a minute to go. Bethany's comeback fell short after the Wolverines went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final minute.

The Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament begins on March 13-20. All schools able to participate in the championship tournament will be seeded. The championship tournament will feature a first round, quarterfinal round, semifinal round and title game.
