Women's Basketball Edged by Titans, 80-73.

New Wilmington, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled north to New Wilimington, Pa. for a Presidents Athletics Conference (PAC) play against the Westminster College Titans Saturday afternoon. Freshman Makenzee Mason tailed a career-high 28 points while shooting a perfect 18-for-18 from the charity stripe.

GAME OVERVIEW

It was a battle from the start between the Bison and Titans. The first stanza consisted of five lead changes and four ties. The Bison trailed 4-0 in the opening minutes of the game before gaining ground and eventually taking their largest lead of five, 19-14 with 1:30 left in the stanza. The Titans finished the quarter strong to cut the Bison lead to 19-18.

Bethany continued to maintain a lead of 30-26, halfway through the second quarter, unfortunately for the Bison, the Titans rallied for a 15-4 run to regain the lead heading into the break. Bethany trailed 43-36 at the half.

After the intermission, the Green and White mustered up a 14-5 run to cut the Titan lead to 48-46. However for the remainder of the third stanza the Bison would not get any closer, as Westminster held on to a 57-50 lead at the buzzer.

The battle between the two opponents continued in the final period. Bethany continued to grind and chip at the Westminster lead. The Green and White were within one possession of taking over the game but Westminster always had an answer to Bethany's marks. Freshman Makenzee Mason's 13 free throws played a major factor in keeping the Bison close to the Titans through the fourth stanza. Freshman Bella Skobel added a pair of free throws with 1:37 left in the game to keep the Bison within reach. The Titans were able to hold off the Green and White in the final minute with a few defensive stops and capitalized on offense.
