WLAX: Record Game for the Bison

For just the second time in school history, the Bethany College women's lacrosse team held a team scoreless for an entire half as the Bison claimed their first win of the season – beating Division II Ursuline Friday, 18-3, on Bison Stadium in non-conference action.

As the stout defensive handcuffed the Arrows, sophomore Tatum Severe etched her name into the women's lacrosse record books with four assists. She added three goals for a career-high tying seven points.

Junior Jada Carter scored a team-high five goals to go along with five ground balls, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Junior Emily Wenger was also a force on both ends of the field with three goals, two assists, eight ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers.

Bethany scored the first three goals of the game, but the Arrows answered with a pair to pull to within one. That was the last glimmer of hope for Ursuline as the Bison scored six straight goals, five in the second quarter.

The Bison scored all nine of the second half goals.

Madison Wagoner and Leah Crihfield had four saves each in the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES

  • Bethany was 12-of-15 in its clear attempts, while Ursuline was just 12-of-21.

  • The Bison finished with 40 shots and limited Ursuline to just 15 shots.

Bethany (1-3 overall) travels to Cincinnati, Ohio 4 p.m. Monday to face Mount St. Joseph in non-conference action.
