The Bethany College women's lacrosse team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a 17-4 loss to Chatham Saturday inside Bison Stadium.
Senior Karley Trinidad scored twice for the Bison, while junior Janez Matthews and Emily Wenger scored a goal each.
Chatham opened the scoring eight straight goals, including all five in the first period, before Trinidad tallied Bethany's first marker with less than two minutes in the first half.
Matthews scored on a free position shot to open the third period scoring, and the Cougars answered with nine straight as Trinidad and Wenger capped the scoring.
Senior Leah Crihfield finished with 10 saves on 17 shots in goal.
Bethany (1-7) has a quick turnaround, traveling to Canton, Ohio 4 p.m. Monday to face Malone.
