Frantz defends high jump title at PAC Indoor Championships; Women finish 8th

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Feb. 22) - Junior Leighanna Frantz (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) defended her Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) indoor title in the high jump, as the Bethany women's track & field team finished eighth at the league championships Thursday evening at the WATTS Training Center.

Frantz cleared 1.44 meters (four feet, 8.75 inches) in the high jump to earn her second-straight indoor championship in the event. She also added a 10th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.43 meters (14 feet, 6.5 inches).

Patience Frazier (Washington, Pa./Washington) also earned all-conference distinction in the field for Bethany. Frazier earned third place in the weight throw with a distance of 12.52 meters (41 feet, one inch).

Sophomore Amanda Gower (Washington, Pa./Trinity) had two top-10 finishes on the track for the Bison. She finished fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of one minute, 2.6 seconds and turned in a seventh-place time in the 200-meter dash at 27.72 seconds.

Freshman Riley Meyers (Dubois, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and finished the event in sixth place. Meyers, who holds the school-record in the event, crossed the tape at 10.18 seconds.

The Bethany distance medley relay (DMR) finished sixth overall. The team of Gower, seniors Elizabeth Timas (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) and Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua), and junior Emily Duke (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) recorded a time of 14 minutes, 3.62 seconds in the event.
