Volleyball: Bison Top Barons
STUEBENVILLE, Ohio – The Bethany College women's volleyball team traveled to Ohio for a PAC match against PAC foe Franciscan University Wednesday evening. Bethany defeated Franciscan, 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21).
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bison took the first two sets.
- Bethany and Franciscan were neck-and-neck for most of the first set. The Bison were ahead 14-12 and scored seven points to take a 20-15 lead. The Green and White scored four out of the last five points.
- In set two, the Bison jumped out to a 10-5 lead. They held a nominating lead through the second match earning a 24-18 second set win.
- Franciscan began to gain momentum in the second set and used it in the third set to take one set away from the Bison and force a fourth set.
- In set four, the Bison jumped out to an 11-5 lead. The Barons began to climb back into the match cutting the deficit to 14-12. However, the Bison scored eight points to take a 22-16 lead and held on to win the fourth set and take the match, 3-1.
INSIDE THE MATCH
- Emma Marthins led the Bison with 14 kills and three blocks (1 solo).
- Riley Felton added 12 kills while Olivia Koehler had 11 kills and 19 digs.
- Anna Taylor led with 22 digs and had three aces.
- Lynn Burton and Alaina Torres split the setter duties with Burton with 26 assists while Torres had 24.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bison will return to Hummel Field House for a double header against Saint Vincent College and Hiram College on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Bison will face the Bearcats at 12 pm and the Terriers at 3 pm.
