Five-Set Loss for Bison

The Bethany College volleyball team fell in five sets (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-10, 15-11) to Grove City Wednesday in Presidents' Athletic Conference action inside Hummel Field House.

Grove City scored six of eight points after the match was tied at 11 to open up the lead in the first set. It was enough distance to enable the Wolverines to claim the first set.

Five different players scored for Bethany as the Bison tallied seven of the last 10 points to record the second set win. Bethany scored the final three points of the third set to stake itself to the 2-1 lead.

However, Grove City scored the first five points and 11 of the first 13 to force the fifth set. It was tight throughout the fifth set, but GCC secured the victory with five of the last six points.

Senior Talia Gallagher tied a career-high with 43 assists, marking the fourth time this season she has distributed at least 40 assists. She added 22 digs for her 12 double-double of the year.

Junior Adrianna Gilliam finished with 12 kills on 52 attempts and completed the double-double with 15 digs. Junior Lesley Sanchez added 11 kills on 39 attempts. Junior Averie Braymer stuffed the stat sheet nine kills, four digs, three service aces and a block assist.
