Braymer Leads Bison to Win

The Bethany College volleyball avenged an earlier non-conference loss and picked up their first Presidents' Athletic Conference win of the season, beating Geneva in four sets (28-26, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20) in Hummel Field House Wednesday.

Bethany raced out to an early 16-8 lead and led by as much as 21-11 before the Golden Tornadoes answered. Geneva clawed back, after two Bethany timeouts, to take the 24-23 lead. However, the Bison was able to secure the 28-26 win.

The Bison scored the first two points of the second set, and never trailed in taking the 2-0 lead.

Geneva staved off defeat scoring seven of the first nine points, but Bethany went on a 13-4 run to take the lead. The Golden Tornadoes scored 10 of the last 12 points for the set victory.

The Golden Tornadoes took an early lead in the fourth set, but the Bison stormed back again. This time it was Bethany with the match-ending rally, scoring nine of the last 11 points.

Junior Averie Braymer continued to lead the Bison offense with 12 kills on 34 attempts and just four errors. Junior Lesley Sanchez and freshman Kaylee Doppelheuer finished with seven kills each.
