Men's and Women's Soccer Programs Earn United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Bethany College men's and women's soccer teams are receiving recognition from the United Soccer Coaches for their outstanding performance in the classroom for the 2021-22 academic year. 

The United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday the College Team Academic Award winners. A total of 746 soccer teams are earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. Of that total, 130 schools are being recognized for both their men's and women's programs.  

The Bison men, led by fourth-year head coach Frankie Taal, finished with a cumulative team grade-point averaged of 3.29. On the women's side, the Bison are led by fourth-year head coach Alyssa Finelli and finished with a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.27.  

The Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2021-22 academic year. 

Last fall, the Bison soccer programs placed 22 (16 men, 6 women) student-athletes on the 2021 Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Fall Academic Honor Roll list.
