Chelsey Fletcher Selected to Attend NCAA Division III Faculty Athletics Representative Fellows Institute

BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Chelsey Fletcher is selected to attend the 2022 NCAA Division III Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Fellows Institute in Indianapolis on Nov. 3-5.

"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to attend the NCAA FAR institute. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as a communication and avocation liaison between our student-athletes and faculty," says Fletcher. "Receiving the training from NCAA that will ensure Bethany is utilizing the FAR function to fullest potential is an exciting blessing."

Fletcher is assistant professor of physical education and sport management, as well as department chair, at Bethany. She holds a Ph.D. in instructional management and leadership. Her dissertation was titled "The Underrepresentation of Women in Secondary Athletic Administration: A Study of the Impediments of Women to Be Successful Athletic Administrators."

She is also the volleyball commissioner for the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

The event is taking place in conjunction with the FARA (Faculty Athletics Representatives Association) Annual Meeting, and Institute attendees will be able to attend FARA programming in addition to the Institute sessions.

The Institute program includes a thorough examination of the role and responsibility of the FAR. It will help FAR Fellows develop the leadership skills necessary to carry out their responsibilities on campus and in their conference and strengthen the network of FARs needed to serve on conference, divisional, and Association-wide committees.
