Morrison elevated to Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine

BETHANY, W.Va. – Director of Athletics Brian Sansom is pleased to announce the promotion of Kacey Morrison, who will now serve as the assistant director for athletics for sports medicine, head athletic trainer. In her new role, Morrison will continue to oversee all sports medicine needs for Bethany's 21 varsity athletic teams and more than 400 student-athletes as our head athletic trainer while taking on additional administrative duties.

"I am thrilled to have Kacey as the leader of our sports medicine program," says Sansom. "She possesses all the important skills and the mindset to be an incredibly special leader for our department. It is evident how much she cares about her work and clearly has earned the respect of our student-athletes. I could not be more pleased that we are able to reward someone who is so well deserving."

Morrison first arrived to Bethany in Sept. of 2020 as the head athletic trainer, serving as the primary contact for all of Bethany's sports. Among her many responsibilities, Morrison provides management and medical care coverage for sports, while also executing treatment and executing rehabilitation plans for the entire student-athlete population. Additionally, Morrison has worked closely with coaches and staff to develop plans and programs for return to play and injury prevention. On top of her sport assignments and daily direct care of Bethany's student-athletes, Morrison was an instrumental piece in the department's return to play action after COVID-19. She was responsible for testing every student-athlete, coach, and staff member prior to practices as well as games. While handling all of the duties her job requires, she was tasked with providing and enforcing health and safety protocols for student-athletes and coaches to follow.

Morrison came to Bethany after serving as a clinical assistant at Rock Valley Physical Therapy for five years. During her time at Rock Valley Physical Therapy, she served as the head athletic trainer at Rockridge High School. Morrison was also the director of strength and conditioning for the Augustana College Women's Basketball team from 2016-18.

Morrison also spent time at Blackburn College as the assistant athletic trainer for soccer, basketball, and baseball. Eventually, she became the College's head athletic trainer in May 2012. Morrison was an adjunct faculty member.

After graduating with her master's, Morrison was the student assistant at Washington University and spent a year at Alton High School before her move to Blackburn College.

A Peotone, Ill. native, Morrison earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science and psychology with a minor in biology from Illinois College and has a master of athletic training from Saint Louis University.
