BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team opened up the 2023 season against William Peace University at Bison Stadium, Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- William Peace took an early 3-0 lead. The Bison got on the board after Clay Yingling scored his first goal of the game. The Pacers added two more goals in the first period and led 5-1.
- Tyler Britton cut the Pacers lead to 5-2, but the Pacers added two goals to go up 7-2. Yingling scored his second goal of the game bringing the Bison within four. The Pacers led 8-3 at the half.
- The Pacers' lead swelled to 14-3 in the third as they scored 6 goals.
- William Peace extended their lead scoring two goals to open the fourth period. Clay Yingling earned a hat trick, scoring the Bison's final goal of the game. The Pacers closed out the game scoring four more goals.
BISON TOP PERFORMERS
- Clay Yingling led the Bison with three goals and one assist.
- Tyler Britton added one goal and Conor Sinclair had one assist.
- Christian Funari had six caused turnovers.
- Andrew Smith had 17 saves and freshman Christian Nestor had five saves.
STATS OF THE GAME
- William Peace outshot the Bison 53-28.
- Both teams were even on faceoffs at 13-26 each.
