Men's Lacrosse: Offense paces Bison in victory over Cyclones

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team traveled to New Jersey to face Centenary University Cyclones in a non-conference tilt Monday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Bethany 17, Centenary 9

Records: Bethany 1-2 (0-0), Centenary 0-5 (0-0)     

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Centenary found the back of the net first in the first minute of the game.
  • The Bison quickly knotted the game at one after Tyler Britton scored his second goal of the season with 9:36 to go in the first. Britton gave the Bison the lead just 18 seconds later.
  • Clay Yingling scored the next two goals for the Bison and Conor Sinclair tacked on one more goal in the first as the Bison took a 5-1 lead after one period of play.
  • Yingling opened the second period with his third goal of the game followed by Raymond Rogers' goal with 10:44 to go. The Bison led 7-1. Centenary added their second goal of the game and went goal-for-goal with the Bison over the course of the second period. The Bison led 9-4 heading into halftime.
  • Yingling led off the third period with his fourth goal. Centenary scored the next two goals but Yingling found the back of the net yet again to give Bethany an 11-6 lead. With just over a minute to go in the third, Britton found the back of the net giving the Green and White a 12-6 lead.
  • The Cyclones scored first in the final quarter. On a man-down situation, Yingling was able to find the back of the net for his sixth goal of the game. The Cyclones scored a minute later but the Bison would go on and score the next four goals. Centenary capitalized on a man-up opportunity but the Bethany lead was too much for the Cyclones.
