Softball: Bethany extends win streak to six

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Bethany College softball extended their win streak to six after defeating Potsdam and Clark Monday morning.  

Game One Overview

Bethany 5, Potsdam 4

Bethany earned the lead first after scoring two runs in the second. Audrey Tobesman scored on a throwing error and Felicity Eli scored on an Angela Brandel groundout. In the third, the Bison added another run. Katelyn Ziems drove in Morgan Huey.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Bears crossed the plate for the first time in the game.

The Bison added two insurance runs in the fifth. Ziems drove in Trista Morris and Tobesman drove in Morgan Huey.

In the remaining half of the game, the Bears attempted to comeback while chipping at the Bison lead. The Bears scored one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh. With the tying runner on base, Josie Wise was able to get a groundout to hold on for the win.

Game Two Overview

Bethany 6, Clark 2  

Bethany struck first after Morgan Huey single that drove in Emma Sorensen.

In the fourth, Clark had two runs cross the plate off of wild pitches.

The Clark lead didn't last long before the Bison knotted the game and regained the lead. In the fifth, Alexis Holden had a bunt single that led to Audrey Tobesman scoring. Brooke Markland hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in Mary Marshall.

The Bison added three insurance runs in the sixth the help seal the victory. Huey doubled which scored Goodnight and Angela Brandel. Haley Eyler later singled to drive in Huey.

Shelby Barnett earned her third win of the season pitching a complete game. She had three strikeouts.

The Bison return to the diamond on Wednesday, Mar. 6 when they compete against Rockford and Penn State-Altoona in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
