Softball: Bison hot streak continues in 9-0 start

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Bethany College softball is off to a 9-0 start for the first time in program history after closing the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic with a pair of win Thursday afternoon. Bethany defeated Penn State-Altoona, 5-1 and North Central (Minn.), 21-1.

Bethany 5, PSU-Altoona 1

PSU-Altoona scored first to start the game. However, the Lions' lead didn't last long. Haley Eyler drew a walk with bases loaded to score Destiny Goodnight. Katelyn Ziems drew another walk to score Morgan Huey, giving the Bison a 2-1 lead. The Bison added another run in the second after Huey drove in Angela Brandel. In the fifth, the Bison added two insurance runs to take the 5-1 victory.

Bethany 21, North Central (Minn.) 1

Bethany's offense exploded in the game against North Central. In the second inning, the Bison scored 12 runs on eight hits. The Bison added four in the third and five in the fourth. Bethany held North Central to just one run and run hit.
