HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)

  • In familiar game one fashion, it took the Bison a few innings to get started on offense. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Bethany rattled off six runs to take the lead.

  • The six run inning started with Haley Eyler's RBI single. Then three soon to be graduating Bison chimed in with RBIs on senior day. Angela Brandel then put down a bunt for a single earning an RBI on a squeeze play. Destiny Goodnight came up with one out and a runner on third from a throwing error. She got the job done with a sacrifice fly to center field. Morgan Huey lined a ball into right center  to drive home Brandel. After being gifted another chance with runners on from an Olivet error, Brooke Markland barreled a double to earn two RBI,

  • Ally McClelland and Brandel both drove in runs in the fifth and sixth innings to end the first game early. McClelland had an RBI single and a walk with the bases loaded. Brandel had a productive out and a sacrifice fly to wrap things up with an inning to spare.

  • Josie Wise didn't give up an earned run in her six innings. This was her second consecutive game not giving up an earned run. Wise struck out seven.

BISON LEADERS IN GAME ONE:

  • Wise threw a complete game earning her 11th win of the season.

  • Brandel led the Bison with three RBI.

  • McClelland had two RBI. She reached base safely three times with a hit, two walks, and two runs scored.

  • Markland had a similar line with a walk, two runs, and a single to go along with her two RBI double.

  • Audrey Tobesman got her first double of the season. She was 1-1 with two runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO):

  •  Teams took turns scoring in alternating innings through the first four innings. The Bison touched home first when Huey singled up the middle to score Goodnight from second.

  • Olivet capitalized on throwing errors. Good baserunning allowed them to score thrice in the top of the second.

  • The top of the Bison order got on base giving Mary Marshall the chance to drive in her first RBI. Markland enjoyed hitting a two RBI double in the first game so much that she did it again in game two. This time her extra base hit gave the Bison the 4-3 lead.

  • The Bethany offense slowed down while The University of Olivet continued to score. They scattered four runs across four innings to force the Bison into a corner.

  • With the top of the order up, the Bison had to score three runs with three outs to stay alive. Goodnight led off with a single. Huey sacrificed. Marshall RBI single. Two more to go.

  • Pitching change, wild pitch, Alexis Holden RBI single. The Bison only need one; but why score one, when you can score two?

  • McClelland stepped up to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded. The senior, on senior day, puts a pitch into the center field grass. Two Bison score giving McClelland the honors as she walks off the Comets securing a Bethany sweep on senior day.

BISON LEADERS IN GAME TWO:

  • Isabella Belcher earned her first ever win as a Bison.

  • Goodnight was 3-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Marshall had a great game going 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

  • Markland was 1-3 with an RBI double, a walk, and scored the winning run.
