Softball: Bison swept for first time this season

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College softball was swept for the first time this season after Allegheny earned a pair of walk-off wins Sunday afternoon.

Game One Overview

Allegheny 5, Bethany 4

After a scoreless two innings, Bethany put three runs on the board in the third inning. Morgan Huey doubled to left center which scored Angela Brandel and Destiny Goodnight. A Mary Marshall tripled to drive in Huey.

Bethany held a narrow lead until the sixth inning. Allegheny added runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. The Bison broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh. Huey doubled to score Miriam Peterson.

The Gators quickly responded with a homerun to deadlock the game and a few batters later, with runners on second and third, the Gators earned a walk off win after Devries singled.

Bison Leaders Game One

  • Morgan Huey led the Bison with three RBI and two hits.
  • Miriam Peterson had two hits.
  • Josie Wise was handed her third loss of the season, pitching 6.1 innings with five strikeouts.

Game Two Overview

Allegheny 2, Bethany 1

Game two saw less scoring than the first game. The Bison quickly took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Destiny Goodnight led off with a double and Mary Marshall flew out to center on a sacrifice fly to drive in Goodnight.

The Gators knotted the game a 1-1 in the third and in the bottom of the sixth, they took the lead.
