Women's Lacrosse: Electric first half propels Allegheny past Bethany

Drew VonScio, Student Assistant for Athletic Communications

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Bison women's lacrosse team took their longest conference road trip of the season up to Allegheny Wednesday evening. The Gators welcomed the Bison to town very quickly as they used a 14-goal first half to coast to a 19-3 win.

Allegheny would score the first 14 goals of the game as they posted nine in the first quarter and five in the second frame. Seven of the goals came from free position shots as the Green and White continue to consistently pick up a lot of fouls.

Alexa Taylor would get Bethany on the board a minute and ten seconds into the third quarter with a goal from a free position shot. Taylor's goal was her 10th of the season as she is now in double-digits for goals in her junior year. The Gators would then score the next trio of goals.

Jada Carter started the fourth quarter with her 14th goal of the season on a free position shot as well. Allegheny would post two more for good measure before Cassidy Mailloux's team-leading 30th goal from a free position shot allowed the Bison to tack on the final goal.

Leah Crihfield made seven saves for the Green and White in the loss. Bethany returns to the field on Saturday when they remain on the road against Waynesburg for a 1 p.m. start.
