Women's Lacrosse: Second quarter surge lifts Bearcats over Bison

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College women's lacrosse hosted Saint Vincent College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest inside Bison Stadium Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Saint Vincent 16, Bethany 8

Records: Saint Vincent (7-5, 2-3 PAC), Bethany (5-8, 1-4 PAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethany and Saint Vincent battled back and forth in the first period. The Bearcats struck first to open the scoring affair with 13:46 to go. The Bison knotted the game just 22 seconds later after Jada Carter found the back of the net. Cassidy Mailloux and Emily Wenger added two goals to give the Bison a 3-1 lead. Both teams went back and forth with the Bison leading 5-4 after one period.
  • The second period saw six goals from the Bearcats with the first three in a span of 52 seconds giving the visitors a 7-5 lead. The Bison tied the game after Lexie Reid and Joanna Melita found the back of the net, but the Bearcats scored the next three goals to take a 10-7 lead into the halftime break.
  • The second half saw the Bearcats out score the Bison 6-1.

  • Bethany held the draw control advantage, 16-12.
  • Saint Vincent outshot Bethany, 32-24.
