NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Bethany College baseball team dropped a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference "home" games Tuesday in games played at Westminster College.
GAME ONE: WESTMINSTER 8, BETHANY 3
Two-out production was the theme of the first game as nine of the 11 runs, including all three of the Bison's run - scored came with two outs.
Falling behind 4-0 as the Titans scored in each of the first three innings, a Sonny Peluchette sacrifice fly and Jaden Nestor-Fox single trimmed the Bethany deficit in half. Westminster got a run back in the fourth, tallied two in the fifth and another tally in the seventh.
Nestor-Fox finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Mike Hines was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Logan Bennett (2-4) allowed seven runs on 11 hits over 4.2 innings with three walks. Jojo Aguon was fantastic in relief, allowing just one run on five hits over 4.2 innings with three strikeouts.
GAME TWO: WESTMINSTER 14, BETHANY 3 (8 inn.)
Threes were (mostly) wild in the second game as Westminster scored three runs in the top of the first inning en route to completing the doubleheader sweep.
In four of the five scoring halves of innings, the teams scored three runs. The Titans put three spots on the board in the first, fifth, and sixth innings, while Bethany scored three runs in the fifth innings. The only inning that didn't see three runs cross the plate was the eighth inning in which the Titans scored five runs.
Nick Roell was responsible for three of Bethany's seven hits, going 3-for-3 with a double. Peluchette added two hits with a run scored and an RBI. Derek Black added an RBI.
Zach Moenert (1-3) allowed six runs, four earned, on five hits with one strikeout.
Bethany (6-14, 1-7 PAC) travels to Pitt. Greensburg 4 p.m. Thursday in non-conference action.
