Base: Solid Start for Moenart Not Enough
LAKE MYRTLE, FL. – Bethany faced some adversity with their game being bumped back nearly six hours from its intended start time. They lost to Penn State-Abington 10-1 due to a forgettable 8th inning.
The Bison were the first to score. In the third inning, a Jaden Nestor-Fox leadoff double and heads up baserunning pushed across the first run of the game.
Zach Moenart had a solid start on the bump. He pitched five and a third only allowing being responsible for one run. Moenart stuck out seven, a nasty mark compared to his two hits given up. His seven Ks was more than his last two outings combined (five).
Moenart was dealing, but his pitch count was getting high for an early season game. The Nittany Lions settled in once the bullpen was called.
Bethany relief pitched out of back to back bases loaded innings with minimal damage. Each circumstance had less than two outs, but the Bison only allowed one run an inning.
The magic came to an end in the eighth. PSU-Abington put up an eight run inning which would end up being Bethany's demise.
The Green and White will hunt for their first spring break win tomorrow against Gwynedd Mercy. The projected start time is 3:45 p.m.
