CMU Defeats Football

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Bethany College football team finished with 108 yards of total offense Saturday, falling to Carnegie Mellon, 66-0, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.  

The Tartans scored 31 points in the opening quarter and 14 in the second to take a 45-0 lead into halftime. CMU added a seven spot in the third quarter before rounding out the scoring with 14 points in the fourth quarter. 

Freshman quarterback Brett Phillips was 16-of-27 for 126 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Junior Elijah Moffatt was the primary benefactor with five receptions for 39 yards.  

Defensively, junior Sonny Fox led the team with 11 tackles, while senior Tsi Fofang added seven tackles and 0.5 sacks.  

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES 

  • Through three games, Fox is third in the PAC with 10.0 tackles per game.  

  • Bethany picked off its first two passes of the season as Devon Colson and De'Vaughn Lewis each had an interception.  

Bethany (0-3) has a bye week before returning home to face unbeaten and reigning PAC Champion Grove City 1 p.m. October 5.
