Men's Lacrosse: Britton Breaks Career Goals Record in Victory Over LaRoche

BETHANY- Men's Lacrosse hosted their second game of the week in Bison Stadium. They took on the LaRoche Redhawks; a familiar DIII opponent to Bethany athletics. The Bison came out of their shell in the second half. An offensive onslaught gave Bethany a 25-4 victory.

The Basics

Final Score: Bethany , LaRoche

Records:

  • LaRoche (0-9)

  • Bethany (4-5, 0-1 PAC)

How It Happened

  • LaRoche struck first, scoring a goal within the first minute of action. That sparked the Bethany offense as they took a lead they would hold for the remainder of the game.

  • Three Bison scored before the Redhawks were able to answer. Zach Tuley, Raymond Rogers, and Cameron Russo found the net. Ethyn Taylor bookended with assists.

  • Taylor continued to open up his teammates and found Tyler Britton within 20 feet of the goal for another Bison score. Maurice Plummer ended the first with back to back scoring efforts to give Bethany a 6-3 lead after the first quarter.

  • The Green and White continued to put offensive pressure on the Redhawks. After scoring two goals, they allowed one to LaRoche. Following that goal, the Bison went on a tear scoring 17 consecutive goals.

  • The offense took 81 total shots in the game. Of those opportunities, 53 of them were on goal. The Bethany's volume of attempts more than quadroupled LaRoche's. The Redhawks only took a stab 20 times in the entire game.
  • Familiar faces were able to score multiple times. Taylor, Rutherford Sampson, Russo, and Justice Smith all scored multiple goals in that stretch. There was also a new face in the goal category. Griffen Carpenter scored his first career goal as a Bison.

  • In that 17 point run, Britton scored his sixth goal of the game. His final goal cemented him in the record books as the Bethany Men's Lacrosse goals leader with 109 career goals. He currently leads Bethany in goals and points for the season. His 41 season points primarily stem from his 32 goals.

  • On top of the Bison scoring 25 goals, impressive defense led to a Redhawks shutout in the second half. Bethany's defenders limited the LaRoche offense to only five shots in the second half.

Bison Top Performers

  • Britton's six goal performance pushed him to the top of the Bethany Men's Lacrosse goal leaderboard. His 109 goals are a program best.

  • Taylor's four assists were a team best. Russo was right behind him with three.

  • Plummer found himself around the ball all game scooping up ground balls 10 times.

  • Goalkeeper Christian Nestor gets his fourth win of the season. He had five saves.
