Men's Lacrosse: Balenced scoring leads to Bison win over Owls

SWANNANOA, N.C.- The Bison traveled to North Carolina to take on the newly founded Warren Wilson Owls lacrosse team. Bethany had a very successful day offensively snapping their four game losing streak in a big way with a 22-2 victory.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Bethany- 22, Warren Wilson- 2

Bethany improves to 2-4 (0-1 PAC)

Warren Wilson remains winless at 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The beginning of the game started fast. The Bison and the Owls quickly traded goals to jump out to a 1-1 game.

  • What looked like the start of a shootout quickly turned into a one-way affair as the Bison started rolling. They scored seven consecutive goals- including a last second point by Ethyn Taylor- to end the first period up 8-1.

  • The run continued into the second period as Bethany quickly rattled off three more goals. Cameron Russo and Taylor picked up their third goals of the game before the Owls were able to answer back with a Jude Searles goal. The score grew to 11-2 with five minutes left in the half.

  • The Bison built more offensive momentum before time could expire with a pair of goals with under one minute remaining. They extended their lead even further to 13-2 with a half left to play.

  • Bethany took the momentum they built in the first half and ran with it. The Bison defense kept Warren Wilson scoreless until the buzzer sounded.

  • While they did have a great showcase on defense, the Bison didn't slow down on offense.

  • Taylor was the first to hit the back of the net for the Bison. He then went on to assist three separate teammates to goals of their own: Rutherford Sampson, Maurice Plummer, and Russo.

  • Bethany took advantage of being a man-up on two occasions late in the quarter. Raymond Rogers shucked a goal then assisted Britton for his third of the day.

  • The Bison pumped the brakes in the fourth quarter after Justice Smith landed his third goal. They cruised to a 22-2 victory.

  • The Bison's 50 total shots greatly contributed to their 20 point margin of victory. They also played stellar defense. Bethany kept Warren Wilson's offense to under 10 shots until part way through the fourth quarter.

BISON TOP PERFORMERS

  • Russo finished the game with six goals - good enough to claim the top spot.

  • Taylor, despite being tied with Britton with 4 goals, emerged as the Bison's point leader thanks to his unselfish six assists.
