Men's Lacrosse: Bison fall late to Terriers

HIRAM, Ohio – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team traveled to Hiram College for their first road match of the season Wednesday evening. The Terriers used a strong comeback to defeat the Bison, 11-9.  

THE BASICS

Final Score: Hiram 11, Bethany 9   

Records: Hiram (1-0, 0-0 NCAC) Bethany (1-3, 0-0 PAC)   

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethany had a strong first period against Hiram, taking a 5-2 lead into the second. The Bison were led by Cameron Russo's three assist period, as he assisted three of the five goals. Freshman Rutherford Sampson scored twice for the Bison.
  • The second period saw a slight shift in momentum with the Terriers outscoring the Bison, 2-1. A Tyler Britton goal with under seconds to go in the half gave the Bison a 6-4 lead.
  • Both teams were even in the third scoring two goals apiece. Cameron Russo saw the opposite of what he was used to contributing when he scored a goal off of a Tyler Britton assist. Tyler Britton scored his second goal of the game with a 1:20 to go. The Bison held an 8-6 lead heading into the final period of play.
  • Bethany was the first to score in the fourth off the stick of Tyler Britton. The Bison would unfortunely wouldn't score again. Hiram went on and scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Bison, 11-9.
