Women's Basketball: Bison fall to Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Grove City College for a PAC matchup Wednesday evening. The Wolverines defeated the Bison, 66-45.  

GAME FLOW

• Grove City scored the first 11 points of the game and held the Bison scoreless for the first seven minutes.  
• Ashleigh Wheeler lifted the lid for the Bison with a layup. The Wolverines led 16-7 after the first stanza.
• Wheeler opened the second quarter with a triple, but the Wolverines' lead swelled to as many as 15 points. The Bison closed out the second quarter on a 9-3 run to trail the Wolverines, 30-20 at the half.
• The Bison continued to battle throughout the third quarter. An Alyssa Serensky three cut the deficit to 37-31 with under five minutes to go. Grove City closed out the third quarter hitting back-to-back three's taking a 40-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
• The Wolverines were able to maintain a large lead for the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 26 points.

IN THE BOX SCORE

• Ashleigh Wheeler had 16 points with four made three's.
• Alyssa Serensky added 10 points and four rebounds.
• Bella Skobel had two blocks and three steals.  

BY THE NUMBERS

• Grove City outrebounded the Bison, 67-31 with 32 offensive rebounds. The Wolverines had 22 second chance points.
• The Wolverines had 29 points off turnovers.
